The making of / Behind the scenes

Linda Seagraves, Producer
Linda is a first-time filmmaker with a fervent desire to make contemporary films rooted in African American history, Africa and the Diaspora. “For most of my life, I felt no particular affinity, no real connection to the continent of Africa. My world view shifted when I journeyed to South Africa for the first time and heard the words, ‘Welcome home.’ Until that moment, I had no awareness that something was missing. I went to Africa as a tourist and came home a daughter.” My Mother’s Daughter is the response to the profound longing of African Americans to reconnect to identity, place, and ancestry lost in slavery.
